I've been researching a Kosbab family who lived in Toledo, Ohio.
Charles (Carl) Kosbab was about the same age as my great grandfather,Edward Kosbab, so I thought perhaps they could have been brothers orcousins. After much searching of obituaries, census, etc., TheodorKosbab was listed as being from Hesse, Germany.
A couple of months ago I joined Pommern-L. I decided to take a stabat posting a query late last night. Within 15 minutes or so, KarlSup, from Mesa, Arizona e-mailed me. He feels that my Edward Kosbabis probably a cousin to his ancestor, Frederick, from Hebrondamnitz,Kreis Stolp, Hinter Pommern. He will check all of his records forthis town and e-mail me in a day or two to let me know what hediscovered
I received an e-mail from Gerd Kosbab. He will e-mail me again afterchecking at the local LDS. This is all getting quite exciting. Ihave searched for the Geman birth place of my Kosbab's for around 20years!
I am searching for the surname Kosbab. Edward Kosbab was born in 1857in Hinter Pommern, Germany. His wife, Augusta Gewanzki, Genofske,Genowski (not certain of spelling) was also born around 1857 in HinterPommern. Edward had 2 brothers and 1 sister (possibly more). Edwardand Augusta were married about 1875 in Hinter Pommern. Edward came toSandusky, Ohio, U.S.A in 1878 and Augusta came in 1881. Edward'sbrothers, August and Albert Kosbab stayed in Hinter Pommern. Edward'ssister, Henrietta Kosbab, married Wilhelm Nutzki, and also settled inSandusky, Ohio, U.S.A. Would like to learn what town in Hinter Pommernthe Kosbab family came from. It is possible they came from the area, formerly known as Stolp, Germany, but I have found no evidence of theexact name of the town. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Marcia,Sandusky, Ohio, U.S.A.
